What is Instagram? It is so many things to me now other than an app where you upload pictures. It’s amazing how God has used this app to bring such kind loving homeschool moms in my daily life. It’s so much more than taking pictures! It’s a place where one little hashtag can make a huge difference in someone’s day. It’s also a place where you find support! Much to my surprise, I have found other homeschool families who use the same curriculum as we do. This has been a huge blessing! It has inspired me to create our own little hashtag! It’s my prayer that our hashtag will make a difference in our daily HomeSchooling as we teach our children through the Ace Ministries curriculum. The Lord has given me many ideas throughout the years and this where I’d like to share them. In hopes to be a better homeschool mom blogger… I can have all my postings along with comments from other Moms at my fingertips! I will just have to find time to put them together for future blog posts.

It’s also my plan to share all I have learned from HomeSchooling just one child….one rowdy, high strung hyper, drumming boy who makes my day…every day. No matter how long and bad some of our days are…he always manages to crack a smile, tell me he loves me and our homeschool.

Every time I hear that beep, I’m reminded that one day…later in his life, he will be responding to all sorts of “beeps” as in alarms. It saddens me to know he’ll soon be grown & gone off on his own all too soon…just like his older sister Candace.

But one thing… once he’s grown & gone… every time he hears a “beep”… I pray he thinks of me/us.. and smiles. Times we struggled with math, laughed over a story, colored pages, wrote letters to his pen pals, prayed together or read the bible.

I pray he remembers & chuckles at all the funny times we’ve shared while homeschooling.

That last quote is what every mother wants & loves to hear. I knows it’s only for a Season… so..

Once we did start “officially” homeschooling, I wasn’t prepared me for the struggles of homeschooling only one child. Everyone I knew who homeschooled at the time were teaching two or more, including my sister. So there we were, just him & I trying to find out what was gonna work for both of us. At first, I didn’t have a Curriculum, just work books for every subject purchased at Wal-Mart. Every weekend, I planned our upcoming week and it was tiring, draining, and exhausting. Trying to make it fun everyday can be difficult, but is rewarding.

We have found the Classroom setting works best for us. We both really enjoy our School Room. He’s always loved pinning up things on our bulletin boards, putting books back on the shelf, doing our pledges and writing the date on the dryer easer board.

So now, here we are getting ready to start the 5th grade! We just have a couple of more things to get/do this week, like taking him to the Trophy Shop for his 5th Grade T-Shirt. He has the colors and scripture already picked out.

Our School Room renovation may not be complete before we start our 5th grade year, but we’ll still make his 1st Day of HomeSchool – the Best!

I maybe a little teary-eyed now about him growing up so fast… but once things get rolling, there will be nothing but smiles! In Jesus’ name! Amen!

Hello to you Hip HomeSchool Moms!

Now I know a lot of you (including myself) have linked yourself  up there on the Linkage (via homeschoolsue).  Wow! What a great turn out!!  There A LOT of names on this list. I’d really love to sit here and insert all your names onto my blog for quick access right now this very minute. I will get to each of them slowly but surely, please be patient with me.  Making friends (on line & off line) takes time. Keeping them takes effort from both parties.  I try my best to keep in touch with all my friends. I am not the BEST friend in the world, but I do aim to be a good one.

I’m really enjoying all the new homeschool mom friends on my Twitter & FB! I actually met a homeschool mom who is just homeschooling one child, just like me! I met her over at the ChristianHome School Hub… another wonderful site where you can find more homeschooling mom friends.

Dear Derek, You came into this world the most beautiful baby boy I had ever seen. With each passing year, you have made my heart swell with such love. Bear with me, as your Mother takes a look back:

At 1 year old, your were learning new words. Your most used words were “ball”, “car”, “momma” & “Dadoo”. You also loved to walk & run all over the place.

2 years came quickly! You were so smart! You knew your name, ABC’s & 1,2,3′s. You talked a lot and loved to explain things.

When you were 3 years old, you were 100% potty trained! Yes! Mommy finally figured it out!

4 years old, you could write your name! You loved writing it in the sand outside.

Turning 5 was super special because you gave your heart to Jesus in July during VBS. I will never forget you asking me if you could go up to the altar after a salvation call. I started crying before you left your seat.  For Christmas that year, you went around singing, “All I want for Christmas are my 2 front teeth.” Oh, how I loved your toothless smile!

You were a big boy at 6 years! Your drumming skills were getting so good that daddy thought it was time you had your 1st real drumset!

You loved music all your life, so at 7 years old, we took you to your first Third Day concert. Dad wanted it to be special and made sure you were able to meet your favorite drummer David Carr.

While you were 8 years old, you learned to write in cursive. You were so excited because you worked so hard.

Being a 9 year old was a special time for you. Dad took us on our first real vacation. You rode on a plane then we got on a cruise ship. You loved the ocean and appreciated the deep blue color of the water.

So here’s to your “10 years on this Earth, baby!” I’m ready for the next set of 10,20,30 years of milestones!

I love you very much! But please always remember Jesus loves you more!
